Good day, Stoics.
Don’t add a second wound.
Something difficult happens, and then the mind begins adding to it:
This shouldn’t be happening.
I can’t handle this.
Now everything is ruined.
The event may already be painful. But the judgment we place on top of it can make it heavier than it needs to be.
The Stoics taught that our first impression isn’t always within our control. What matters is whether we immediately agree with it.
So when something goes wrong today, pause before turning one difficulty into a story about your entire life.
Face what happened. Respond to what’s real. Don’t suffer tomorrow’s pain, imagined consequences, and personal condemnation all at once.
One wound is enough.
Stay steady.
