Good day, Stoics.

Today, describe one problem without adding anything to it.

Marcus Aurelius practiced this deliberately. In Meditations, he reminded himself to strip things of the language and appearances that made them seem larger, more impressive, or more terrible than they really were.

We do the opposite all the time.

This is a disaster.

They completely disrespected me.

Everything is falling apart.

Maybe.

But before you accept the story, ask:

What actually happened?

Not what it means about your future.

Not what it says about you.

Not what you fear comes next.

Just the facts.

The meeting was canceled.

They disagreed with me.

I made a mistake.

The plan changed.

That doesn’t make every situation easy. It simply gives reason a chance to work with reality instead of a story we’ve already exaggerated.

So today, take one thing that’s bothering you and describe it as plainly as possible.

No drama.

No prediction.

No added meaning.

Just what’s there.

Sometimes the first step toward better judgment is seeing the thing before seeing the story.

Stay steady.
