Good day, Stoics.

Where could you be more useful?

A lot of modern Stoicism gets reduced to inner peace.

Control your reactions.

Accept what happens.

Protect your peace.

All useful.

But the ancient Stoics expected more from us than simply becoming harder to disturb.

That might mean helping someone without being asked.

Making something easier for the person beside you.

Sharing what you know.

Doing your part instead of waiting for someone else to handle it.

Or simply becoming the kind of person others can depend on.

Marcus Aurelius repeatedly reminded himself that human beings are made to work together. For the Stoics, justice wasn’t an optional virtue we practiced when convenient.

It was part of what living well meant.

So here’s today’s question:

Where could I make myself more useful today?

Not more impressive.

Not more important.

More useful.

Sometimes the most Stoic thing we can do is stop thinking about ourselves for a while and become helpful to someone else.

Stay steady.
