Good day, Stoics.

Which of your desires are actually yours?

We spend a lot of time asking whether we’re getting what we want.

We spend less time asking where the wanting came from.

Did you choose it?

Or did you absorb it from your family, your industry, your social circle, or the endless parade of people showing you what a successful life is supposed to look like?

The Stoics were suspicious of desires we inherited without examining. Not because ambition is wrong, but because an unexamined desire can quietly organize your entire life.

You can spend years chasing something that never would’ve mattered to you if no one else had taught you to admire it.

So here’s today’s question:

Which of your desires still feel true when no one is watching?

The house.

The title.

The recognition.

The lifestyle.

The need to appear ahead.

Some of those desires may be genuine. Others may belong to an audience you’re no longer required to impress.

The point isn’t to want nothing.

It’s to make sure the life you’re building is being chosen by you.

Stay steady.
